Excessive amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS), unless counterbalanced by antioxidants, can cause cellular damage under oxidative stress conditions; therefore, antioxidative defenses against ROS must be measured. With the development of nanotechnology, nanoparticles have found numerous applications in science, health, and industries. Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 :MNPs) have attracted attention because of their peroxidase-like activity. In this study, hydroxyl radicals (•OH) generated by MNPs-catalyzed degradation of H 2 O 2 converted the N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine (DMPD) probe into its colored DMPD•+ radical cation, which gave an absorbance maximum at λ = 553 nm. In the presence of antioxidants, •OH was partly scavenged by antioxidants and produced less DMPD• + , causing a decrease in the 553 nm-absorbance. Antioxidant concentrations were calculated with the aid of absorbance differences between the reference and sample solutions. The linear working ranges and trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity coefficients of different classes of antioxidants were determined by applying the developed method. In addition, binary and ternary mixtures of antioxidants were tested to observe the additivity of absorbances of mixture constituents. The method was applied to real samples such as orange juice and green tea. Student t-test, F tests, and the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient were used for statistical comparisons. 相似文献

Baicalin is extracted from a traditional Chinese herb, Scutellaria baicalensis. In this study, the anticancer activity and underlying mechanisms of baicalin towards human osteosarcoma cell (HOS) were investigated. Baicalin could inhibit HOS cell proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner. Mitochondrial membrane potential decreased obviously after treated with different concentration of baicalin by flow cytometry assay and revealed that baicalin triggered a significant generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Western blotting assay further revealed that baicalin-induced cell apoptosis by suppressing Bcl-2 level, then activating caspase-9 and caspase-3. In vivo experiment, baicalin significantly suppressed tumour growth in female BALB/C nude mice bearing HOS tumours. In addition, baicalin did show toxicity to treated animal by comparing the body weight increase and mortality. In general, the present results demonstrated that baicalin-induced apoptosis in human osteosarcoma cell via a ROS-mediated mitochondrial pathway. The first colour photographs were created by a process introduced by Edmond Becquerel in 1848. The nature of these photochromatic images colours motivated a debate between scientists during the XIXth century, which is still not settled. We present the results of chemical analysis (EDX, HAXPES and EXAFS) and morphology studies (SEM, STEM) aiming at explaining the optical properties of the photochromatic images (UV-visible spectroscopy and low loss EELS). We rule out the two hypotheses (pigment and interferences) that have prevailed since 1848, respectively based on variations in the oxidation degree of the compound forming the sensitized layer and periodically spaced photolytic silver planes. A study of the silver nanoparticles dispersions contained in the coloured layers showed specific localizations and sizes distributions of the nanoparticles for each colour. These results allow us to formulate a plasmonic hypothesis on the origin of the photochromatic images colours. 相似文献

To activate electronic and optical functions of the redox-active metal–organic framework, (Me2NH2)[InIII(TTFTB)]⋅0.7 C2H5OH⋅DMF (Me2NH2@ 1 , TTFTB=tetrathiafulvalene-tetrabenzoate, DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide), has been exchanged by tetrathiafulvalenium (TTF.+) and N,N′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium (MV2+). These cations provide electron carriers and photosensitivity. The exchange retains the crystallinity allowing single-crystal to single-crystal post-synthetic transformation to TTF@ 1 and MV@ 1 . Both TTF.+ and MV2+ enhance the electrical conductivity by a factor of 102 and the visible light induced photocurrent by 4 and 28 times, respectively. EPR evidences synergetic effect involving charge transfer between the framework redox-active TTFTB bridges and MV2+. The results demonstrate that functionalization of MOF by cation exchange without perturbing the crystallinity extends possibilities to achieve switchable materials. 相似文献

An endohedrally functionalized self-assembled Fe4L6 cage complex can catalyze oxa-Pictet—Spengler cyclizations of tryptophols and various aldehyde derivatives, showing strong rate accelerations and size-selectivity. Selective molecular recognition of substrates controls the reactivity, and the cage is capable of binding and activating multiple different species along the multistep reaction pathway. A series of Ce-Fe-Ox catalysts prepared by the different calcination temperatures (marked as CF-X, where X represented calcination temperature) were used to the selectivity catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3. The results explained the relationship between calcination temperature and the sulfate species over Ce-Fe-Ox, and then investigated the surface acidity and catalytic performance. The large amounts of sulfate species were formed over CF-450 and CF-550 while it was decomposed with further the increasing of calcination temperature, which resulted in the loss of surface acidity, causing a decrease in the catalytic activity over Ce-Fe-Ox. Thereby, the CF-450 catalyst showed the best catalytic activity and over 90% NOx conversion was obtained at 244–450 °C. Besides, the favored pore structure, more Fe3+ active species, higher Ce3+ concentration and the abundance of chemical adsorbed oxygen species, as well as the surface acid sites, would together contribute to the excellent catalytic activity of CF-450 catalyst. 相似文献

The design of new uranyl-ligands (uranyl-Ls) is of great significance for the separation and utilization of uranium. In this paper, the triazole group was introduced into uranyl-salophen (uranyl-S) to form new asymmetric uranyl-unilateral benzotriazole salophen (uranyl-UBS); we further replaced two oxygen atoms of uranyl-UBS with two sulfur atoms to generate uranyl-unilateral benzotriazole thio-salophen (uranyl-UBTS) as a new receptor. Then, we comprehensively explored coordination models of uranyl-UBS and uranyl-UBTS with R/S-triadimefons (R/S-TDFs) enantiomers as the guests using density functional theory calculations at the B3LYP//RECP/6-311G** level; we then investigated enantioselectivity recognition of the new receptors to the guests R/S-TDFs. The results indicated that the uranium atoms of the receptors uranyl-S, uranyl-UBS and uranyl-UBTS could coordinate with the carbonyl oxygens in guests R/S-TDFs to form complexes of guest-receptors R/S-TDFs-uranyl-Ls that exhibited two stable V-shaped structures with quite different properties. It was found that the coordination ability to the guests R/S-TDFs is uranyl-UBTS > uranyl-UBS > uranyl-S, while the enantioselectivity for the guests is uranyl-UBTS > uranyl-S > uranyl-UBS and, when the receptor is the same, R-TDF has stronger coordination ability than S-TDF. These results provide information and theoretical supports for the experiments of asymmetric uranyl-UBS with R/S-TDFs, and produce a reference for further exploring the coordination characteristics of asymmetric uranyl-salophen with the triazole derivatives. 相似文献

The electronic (energy gap and work function) as well as electrical properties (dipole moment, polarizability, and first hyperpolarizabilities) of the first-row transition metals decorated C24N24 cavernous nitride fullerene were explored using DFT calculations. The transition metals are decorated at N4 cavity of C24N24 fullerene. According to our spin polarized computations, the most stable spin state monotonically increases to sextet for Mn@C24N24 and thereafter dropped off gradually to singlet state for Zn@C24N24 system. The findings demonstrate that transition metals can remarkably decrease the HOMO-LUMO energy gap and work function values up to 63% and 21% of bare C24N24, respectively. As can be seen, when the Sc and Ti metals are located above the N4 cavity of fullerene, systems of enhanced static hyperpolarizabilities (β0) are delivered. These findings might provide an effective strategy to design high performance eletcro-optical materials based on carbon- nitride fullerene. 相似文献

A conspicuous detail of the so-called brown-ring test (the analytical test on nitrate) is the reddish color of the bottom layer of concentrated sulfuric acid, which develops upon the bleeding of the brown layer into the acid. Crystals of the same color form from a solution of ferrous sulfate in concentrated sulfuric acid on saturation with gaseous nitric oxide. The structure of this H3O[{Fe(NO)(μ4-SO4)(μ2-SO4)0.5}n/n] ( 1a ) is made up from infinite chessboard-type layers with sulfur on the field junctions and Fe(NO) moieties below the black and above the white fields. An Fe–N–O angle of about 160° causes disorder in the tetragonal space group I4/mmm. A similar crystal pathology was found in the related [{Fe(MeOH)(NO)(μ4-SO4)}n/n] ( 1b ) in the same crystal class. A one-dimensional coordination polymer is formed in crystals of a third compound that comprises the Fe(NO)O5 coordination pattern, namely the brown oxalato species [{Fe(H2O)(NO)(μ2-ox)}n/n · H2O] ( 2 ). A still larger NO tilt of about 156° is not obscured by disorder in the triclinic crystals of 2 . 相似文献
